We would like to invite you to Trivia Night! Gather your trivia experts, family, friends, or neighbors. We love your children, but this event is designed to be an adult-only affair. Upcoming initiatives to benefit from our fundraising include updating our classroom tech and primary playground.

  2. Staff Holiday Luncheon
    a. Will take place on December 13 in the library.
  3. Trivia Night
    a. Scheduled for February 12th (Monday Evening) at Jubilee Joe’s.
    b. Tickets for the event will be priced at $75.00 for individuals or $125.00 for two people. The price
    will include two vouchers for wine or beer.
    c. This will be an adult-only event.
    d. Will ask for a teacher to serve as emcee.
    e. An announcement will be sent to parents in January with additional details.
  4. Spring Fundraiser (Christie White)
    a. Scheduled for April 20th.
  5. Bruno Montessori Open House
    a. Discussion on advertising to the general public included approaching Parents magazine,
    Birmingham Mommy Instagram, and mailing of postcards.
    b. Linda Myers suggested having students compete to create a catchphrase to add to JBMA
    advertising/marketing materials.

    a. Attendance for “Movie Night” was very good.
    b. About $240.00 was raised from the sale of concessions.
  3. Fall Festival
    a. Gisela is looking for volunteers to run activities.
    b. Reported that teachers are deciding between class Scarecrows or Pumpkins.
    c. An email will be sent out requesting sponsors.
    d. Sharmeen is arranging for a sponsor to provide free Pepsi soft drinks.
  4. Restrooms
    a. A discussion took place regarding changes to student restrooms.

  2. School Supply Fundraiser
    1. Profit: $2956.14
  3. Robotics Program
    1. Vote to approve $6,356.06 unanimous for approval.
  4. Fall and Spring Festivals
    1. The Fall Festival is planned for October 15.
    2. Gisela requested a budget of $3.500 which was approved.
    3. Spring Festival rescheduled for March 19th and will include the Cultural Fair.
  5. School Projects Ideas
    1. Jessica Linville has requested 10 desktop computers.
    2. STEM Lab supplies (Computers, 3D printers, Promethean Board).
    3. Savannah Kilpatrick reported that the Preschool teachers have inquired about improvements to the playground. Dana will speak with Sarita about the specifics of this request.
  6. School Themed Apparel
    1. Savannah also mentioned the possibility of having Bruno Montessori apparel available for students to purchase.
    2. Board agreed and Gisela will check with vendors on pricing.
    3. Susan Downs mentioned that Melanie Myers is currently working on a logo design that could be used for printing on t-shirts, etc.
  7. PTO will provide concessions for the October 27th play production.
  8. Dana mentioned that, prior to the pandemic, a family movie night was usually sponsored sometime in September as a “Welcome Back to School” event. He mentioned that a Disney movie would be presented. After discussion, it was agreed that a movie night would take place on Friday, September 8th featuring “Elemental.”

  3. A proposed change to Bylaws-Lynda Myers
    a. The term of the PTO President is to be increased from one to two years contingent on the desire of the first-term President to serve an additional year.
    b. Since only four members are present voting on the proposed change will be deferred.

PTO Meeting Minutes March 20, 2023

  1. Treasurer Report (Vinita)
    a. Balance: $31,341.87
    b. Venmo Deposit: $2,592.61
  2. Flooring Replacement for Lower Elementary Classrooms #1 and #2
    a. A selection has been decided on, however, the flooring company is attempting to get a darker flooring color.
    b. Installation will be scheduled regardless soon.
  3. February Fundraiser
    a. $6,000 was raised for classroom materials allowing for $600 for each classroom.
  4. Bowling Event
    a. Gift card prizes will be distributed to winning teams.
    b. The competition set-up will be determined later. (By lane, 1st, 2nd,3rd place?).
    c. Scheduled for Sunday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Mountain Lanes.
    d. Cost will be between $10 and $20 per person for shoe rental, etc. Sharmeen will contact them to confirm pricing.
  5. Melanie reminded everyone that May is Teacher Appreciation Month.
    a. A lunch will be provided for the teachers on either May 8 or 9 since testing is scheduled for the remainder of that week. Sharmeen will send out an email in mid-April (10?) seeking candidates for open PTO Board positions.
  6. Rebecca stated that a Meet and Greet is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. for our new Head of School candidate. PTO Board members who can attend would be appreciated.
